Tu B'Shevat
seder & dessert oneg
Tu B'Shevat, the 15th of the month of Shevat, is also known as the New Year of the Trees. Though not mentioned in the Bible, it is an ancient observance for sanctifying the role of nature in Jewish life, and provides a great opportunity to renew our commitments to preserving G-d's glorious creation through conservation and environmentalism.
The Kabbalists of Safed also saw great significance in this holiday, creating an entire seder ritual similar to Passover. Through this they established their connection to the land of Israel and reflected their ideas of G-d's relationship to the world
using the imagery of a
cosmic tree.
Join us Friday, February 10th for Kabbalat Shabbat Services at 6:45pm, followed by Tu B'Shevat seder at 7:30pm and dessert oneg.
Guests and newcomers are welcome.
