P'nai Or offers Shabbat services several times each month on both Friday evenings and Saturday mornings (please see our Calendar page for current schedule). Members and friends gather together to welcome in this time of rest in our week, to take a moment and breathe, to reflect and connect. Services are filled with a spiritual quality, while grounded in tradition. The service includes familiar prayers, music, meditation, readings and open-hearted engagement with Torah. Whether a beginner or a scholar, all are welcome, and you are sure to experience a connection somewhere in your mind, heart and soul. We are a casual group, so please come as you are: the energy of the community is what is important.
On Fridays we have a dessert oneg and Saturday mornings a vegetarian potluck oneg. Our members span a wide variety of eating styles, and while we encourage eveyone to bring something vegetarian to share, everyone is more than welcome to bring something for themselves reflecting any dietary needs or desires. It is a wonderful time to get to know people and catch up with each other's lives and create those familial community feelings of yesteryear. Often we will continue our Torah and Talmud studies through the afternoon.
Havdalah
On occasion we gather together to sing joyously as Shabbat ends, and we get ready for the next week on our journey. In addition to the wine, the candle and the sweet aroma of spices, the night often includes some form of Jewish learning to nourish our souls.
