Experiences

The best way to give a little insight into who we are as a community is to let others get a small glimpse of what P'nai Or has meant to us in our lives, to share our experiences from coming together. Here are some reflections from both members and friends of our community.

"Whenever I attend services at P'nai Or, the singing, praying and sharing together shine my spirit until it glows."

"Sharing in Shabbat often leaves me feeling as relaxed as if I spent an entire day at a beautiful and healing health spa. I somehow always feel that I have "soaked up" the learning and the ruach to go forward into the next week as a better person who is more capable of dealing with what the world puts in front of me." - Wendy

"The energy that propels the Shabbat service is different each time. However, it always contains similar elements: the music, the familiar prayers, the warmth, the absence of lengthy discussions on commandments. The grandeur takes my breath away." - Joyce

"It is the people that make this group so special. From day one, we were made to feel welcome and a cherished part of this warm, supportive, and very diverse spiritual community. We had been searching for a home for our Jewish souls and knew we had found that at P'nai Or. P'nai Or has given us a place to learn and worship together and a community in which we can share both the good times and the challenges that we may encounter along our path." – Laurie (and Harriet and Evelyn)

"I sometimes reflect on how blessed I feel to find such welcoming and special communities here in Long Beach . When I am in services or gathering together for a holiday event, I glance around the room and have this feeling of being safe, as though I have traveled home for the weekend to visit with family. It's a comforting feeling to know that there are people who care about me that I can turn to, and very nourishing to my soul. My mind sweetly thinks of many as my 'P'nai Or parents'" - Heather
